Transgender Day of Remembrance

November 20 is Transgender Day of Remembrance, an annual observance established in 1999 to remember those who have been lost to acts of transgender violence. For many families of transgender people, there will be empty chairs around the Thanksgiving table this year due to those senseless acts—perhaps one of those tables is yours.

Organizations like the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) provide a wide breadth of resources and support for families who have lost loved ones, as well as tools for how to get involved in ending the violence toward transgender people.

Our Simply Good article shares how those in marginalized communities are finding safe spaces and communities online when family holidays often aren’t.

Strong values are important when it comes to confronting our biases. In this issue’s Simply Diversity, we address why it is important to be blunt and specific in the values of our businesses. How do you set clear guidelines and expectations?
